★ 美國人和台灣人都愛的Based on.....之你所不知的陷阱 ★
不管是在日常生活對話中還是在正式的學術演講或寫作裡，Based on (基於) N., S+V 的句型很順口，很常被使用，但其實大部份的人，包括很多母語人士，不用說國內眾多英文老師，都沒有正確使用這個結構. 我們先來看看幾個examples:
(1) "Based on the results, we concluded that the drugs are (were) equally effective."
(2) "Based on this assumption, I developed a model that has been widely adopted by researchers."
之所以可以簡化成 Based on 這樣的分詞形式，就代表後面的句子 （主要子句) 裡的主詞是"被 based on" 的角色。
但我們看看，(1) 裡頭，被based on 的絕對不是 "we"; 相同的，在被based on的，絕對不是 "I". 應改為:
(1) Based on the results, our conclusion is that the drugs are (were) equally effective.
---結論是基於結果所下的---
(2) Based on this assumption, the model that I developed has been widely adopted by researchers.
---model是基於assumption所建立的----
為了去除 Based on....., I....... 的壞習慣，有一個方法即為把 Based on改為 On the basis of 就沒有如此的問題; 不然每次使用一定要小心，到底主要子句的主詞，到底是不是真正"被基於"的角色。
